Plated jewellery keeps its shine for years with very little effort. Four habits do almost all the work.
Last on, first off
Put your jewellery on after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take it off before anything else. Chemicals are what dull a plating fastest.
Keep it dry
Remove pieces before showering, swimming or the gym. Chlorine and sweat are both hard on plated finishes.
Wipe, don't wash
A soft dry cloth after each wear is all that is needed. Avoid chemical jewellery cleaners and ultrasonic baths, which strip plating.
Store pieces apart
Return each piece to its own pouch so nothing rubs against anything else. Cool, dark and dry is the rule.
